    Turnaround

Clas-SiC Wafer Fab is the world’s first dedicated open foundry to manufacture Silicon Carbide power semi-conductors. They operate from a custom built and fully fitted out ISO Class 5 clean room facility, with state of the art 150mm semiconductor manufacturing equipment.

Clas-SiC had an urgent requirement for a 1,100m2 manufacturing facility incorporating ISO 5 classified cleanrooms. In order to maximise the introduction of this new technology to their global supply chain, Clas-SiC embarked on a significant expansion of their operations, procuring an existing speculative warehouse facility, commencing with the procurement of the required manufacturing and processing equipment and selecting T-SQUARED fully-integrated design and construction expertise to work closely with their specialist manufacturing team to generate a robust and efficient design within the limited footprint of the site.

The restrictions on the site where significant and all aspects of the facility had to be considered to generate the optimum design – architectural, building services, environmental control, site and process utilities, and speciality gases. In parallel, the commercial and construction professionals at T-SQUARED generated a robust construction programme and compete design and build project cost. T-SQUARED’s exceptional attention to detail, right from initial scoping, helped Clas-SiC deliver a world class facility, and scale up their manufacturing capability and meet their rapid growth targets.

This fast-track design project highlights the true benefit of early engagement with T-SQUARED. Within 10 weeks, the T-SQUARED design and construction team developed and delivered a fixed scope, fixed design and build cost and programme. This certainty allowed Clas-SiC to progress their plans to create a world class facility, winning the NMI Manufacturing Site of the Year.
