UKHSA (formerly Public Health England) has trusted T-SQUARED to deliver over a hundred of their critical facilities at Porton Down since 2012. Our expert teams have designed and built 18 world-class CL3 biocontainment laboratories on the site, with more already in progress.
Porton Down is one of the most secure sites in the UK, and continually operational, however the existing capacity of standby HV generators was no longer enough for the current site load.
T-SQUARED was appointed to design, install and commission a new power solution for the campus, providing vital back-up power for the facilities in case of a power failure. The installed solution includes three 2,5 MVA prime rated generators and acoustic enclosures, new exhaust systems, Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) Systems, a neutral earth resistor panel, control system, HV Automated distribution panel, 98,000 lite fuel tank, automated intake louvres, fully automated control system for power loss, black start and load synchronisation. The system has the ability to peak-lop when load demand exceeds the site HV incoming supply.
