Case study

University of Glasgow

Joseph Black Cleanroom

The Joseph Black building is home to the University’s School of Chemistry and houses a combination of lecture rooms, laboratories and offices.

The T-SQUARED team of design, construction and validation experts converted a redundant laboratory within the Grade ‘A’ listed building into an ISO Grade 5 Cleanroom, providing a suitable temperature and humidity-controlled environment for a Chemical lithography laboratory.

Due to the confines of the building and available space for both plant and equipment, careful planning was required to ensure all equipment could be both installed and maintained in the future.

Adding to the challenge, the full programme of works was required within tight timescales to ensure work was completed within the summer holiday period for students returning.

Our uniquely integrated approach reduces costs and improves timescales. By collaborating closely with Glasgow University we were able to complete this essential conversion significantly faster, and more efficiently, than traditionally managed builds.
