Scope of the project

Designed to meet the exacting requirements of the Counter Terrorism Security Advisors (CTSA), Advisory Committee on Dangerous Pathogens (ACDP) and Loss Prevention Standard (LPS) 1175 security rating, this project demanded a careful approach to construction.

Architectural features included a fully enclosed secure envelope incorporating heavyweight blockwork walls and bonded security mesh to resist any external attack. Specialist internal surface coatings were applied to resist biological agents, regular cleaning and frequent fumigation as well as to ensure the required room negative pressurisation characteristics. Dedicated HVAC systems and other critical building services including specialist lab gases were integrated along with all electrical services including facility lighting, small power, datacoms and fire protection.

As part of this comprehensive turnkey delivery, T-SQUARED also procured, installed and tested the facility microbiological safety cabinets along with the dedicated autoclave provision.

Through unique professional collaborative working, our design and project management team exceeded all expectations ensuring the site has become a centre of research excellence.
