    Turnaround

This facility has been developed to assist a satellite telecoms network with world leading assembly and testing facilities and a UK base.

T-SQUARED’s vast and in-depth knowledge on cleanroom spaces has facilitated the design of 2 High Bay ISO 8 cleanrooms, 3 propulsion subsystem cleanrooms of ISO8 to ISO5 requirements and 2 ISO8 equipment manufacturing cleanrooms. Their design has incorporated full environmental test facilities for large equipment ranging from an EMC/EMI chamber to a vibration system shaker.

Set to be the main site for Scottish Satellite Manufacturing, Assembly, Integration and Test, the 162,000ft2 facility will house all key personnel, facilities and equipment required to perform the Satellite AIT build process as well as the environmental qualification and validation activities.

This facility will accommodate in one location, the UK’s engineering and production teams for the different functions, Satellite design, Manufacturing & AIT, NOC & SOC operations and Edge ground system development teams 5. The Prestwick locations will also accommodate the ground system Antenna Farm situated on a nearby site. The building was designed in accordance with the ISO 14644 standard. Manufacturing and AIT facilities include:

  • 1 High Bay ISO 8 cleanroom space 16,455ft2 for Satellite AIT
  • 1 High Bay ISO 8 cleanroom space 1,428ft2 for Small-Sat and Subsystem AIT
  • 3 Propulsion Subsystem Cleanrooms, meeting ISO 8, ISO 6 and ISO 5 requirement
  • 2 Equipment manufacturing Cleanrooms ISO 8
  • Dedicated Solar Array Assembly and test areas
  • General prepose machine shop and 3D printing workshops
  • Full environmental test facilities for Thermal Vacuum Cycle chambers , Vibration and Acoustics test facilities
