Spearheading the UK’s life-saving pandemic response with dedicated world-leading research laboratories. These highly specialised bio-secure workspaces develop and test new vaccines against emerging pandemics.
By providing every necessary specialism in-house and using modular construction techniques, we were able to fast-track design, construction, fit-out and certification of these critical facilities in just 24 weeks - nine weeks ahead of schedule.

Rapid delivery was vital to the UK’s Covid response. Our seamlessly integrated approach, with all the necessary specialists and expert skills in-house, was the only way to deliver these large, complex and very sensitive projects for UK Government at such incredibly high speed.
These twin buildings, one a retrofit and the other a completely new build designed by T-SQUARED from the ground-up as a dedicated CL3 containment facility, are among the world’s most advanced and highest-performing specialist vaccine testing centres. VTF 1 was one of the first places to genome sequence Covid-19.
Our uniquely specialised bio-containment design experience enabled us to meet the requirements of the ACDP and LPS1175 with a meticulous approach to construction. T-SQUARED provided a fully integrated design and build solution, with particular attention to bio-security, critical building services, and electrical services. Office and support spaces are designed to seamlessly blend with the facility building services.
Our expert engineering teams designed the complex building services to be manufactured offsite on a modular basis for fast installation. This significantly accelerated testing and commissioning and allowed more time for our in-house validation teams to conduct performance integrity testing. Each individual laboratory had its own separate HVAC and M&E package to avoid any issues cascading across multiple areas.
T-SQUARED’s end-to-end skillset allowed these critical projects to happen in record time. Even our commercial team played a fully integrated part in our delivery strategy, tracking and recording project changes on-the-go alongside our design and construction teams for maximum efficiency and reliability. And our ultra-fast-track process even resulted in long-term cost savings.
